Services

Shari's Promise has a straight-forward, but profound mission:

To stop child sexual abuse any way we can, empower survivors, and teach communities to recognize the signs and react responsibly.

We pursue this mission primarily via education, training adults and children through the following programs.

Abuse Prevention Training for Adults

90-Minute Training

This presentation teaches:

  • what child sexual abuse is,
  • who can perpetrate,
  • how to talk with your children,
  • tools to put in practice right away,
  • how to recognize the signs, and
  • how to respond and take action that best facilitates healing.

It also includes a 15-minute open discussion.

60-Minute Training

A somewhat abridged version of our 90-minute training, this session goes into less detail, but is still very useful.

Stewards of Children

Developed by Darkness to Light, a national non-profit with a mission similar to ours - to protect children from sexual abuse - Stewards of Children is an evidence based, revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, and motivates them to courageous action.

This program is designed for organizations and corporations that serve children and youth, and is ideal for therapists, counselors, and anyone else looking for continuing education units (CEUs). The program has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors, and the National Association of Social Workers for three (3) CEUs. Educators, nurses, and mental health professionals should contact their governing board to see if this program qualifies.

The training workshop takes between 2-3 hours, is offered by an authorized Stewards of Children facilitator, and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion.

Survivor Empowerment Group

"Not your typical victim support group"

Our intention with every session is for our participants to leave empowered. This is a safe, supporting, and encouraging environment dedicated to each others' growth beyond being a victim of sexual abuse. What will begin to emerge is a new possibility for your life and the confidence to carry that forward. This is an ongoing group meeting once per month.
